I have no idea if anyone will participate, but since almost everyone I know is working remotely, I thought some might like a few minutes of mid-day conversation. I know that people attend the #LegalTechMafia breakfasts or the #RiseandRun events to meet each other and I am happy to be the catalyst for that connection, so I am introducing my own version of a #VirtualLunch :) Think of it as a strategy session, a Q&A with peers, a way to make new contacts, or a shot at serendipity. We had a fantastic #VirtualLunch conversation today, Friday, May 6, 2022, with Debbie Foster of Affinity Consulting Group LLC, as part of our #StrategyMeetsTechnology series. My key takeaways were: (1) The evolution of how lawyers complete their work and are supported has shined a light on efficiency and productivity; (2) Efficiency and productivity are directly related to work-life balance; (3) Leaders in legal are paying more attention to efficiency, productivity, and profitability; (4) Whack-a-Mole doesn’t work in solving problems in legal; (5) Securing buy-in can be the hardest part of driving change in legal; (6) Leaders need to be vulnerable and admit they need technology; (7) Buy-in means being a fan and a culture warrior; (8) Facilitation skills are critical; (9) Leaders need to be able to read the room, which is a challenge in a remote setting; and, (10) Finding influencers in the room is an important part of setting expectations.
